Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)

Traditional Chinese medicine treatment starts with the analysis of the body system as a whole, focusing on the correction of pathological changes through readjusting the functions of the “zang-fu” organs. Treatment is based not only on the symptoms, but differentiation of syndromes. Therefore, those with an identical disease may be treated in different ways, and on the other hand, different diseases may result in the same syndrome and are treated in similar ways. Some common TCM therapies include acupuncture, cupping, gua sha therapy and Chinese herbal medicine.

TCM Acupuncture
Targeting at improving qi flow at the meridian points in the body, Acupuncture works at balancing the body's natural yin and yang levels and thus treating conditions such as pain, headaches, digestive and cardiovascular issues amidst others. This treatment is highly effective in weight loss too.

TCM Cupping
TCM Cupping focuses on key pressure points to release & stimulate ‘Qi’ energy in the body. Cupping is a method of treating symptoms caused by local congestion or excess body heat trapped in a particular body part. A partial vacuum is created in a cupping jar, usually by means of heat, which is then applied directly to the skin. The underlying tissue is drawn up into the jar forming an area of blood stasis. This appears to bruise the area, or at least turn it a bright red. The amount of dark red or even purple blood drawn to the surface indicates the degree of stagnation.

TCM Gua Sha Therapy
Gua means to scrape or rub. Sha is a "reddish, elevated, millet-like skin rash' (aka petechiae). Sha is the term used to describe blood stasis in the subcutaneous tissue before and after it is raised as petechiae. Gua Sha is one technique that intentionally raises a Sha rash or petechiae. It is a traditional ancient Chinese healing technique that dates back over two thousand years. Gua Sha works to stimulate blood and lymph circulation, strengthen the body and release blocked energy. This ancient method of promoting "qi" or bioelectric vital life energy and blood circulation as well as the removal of toxic heat, stagnant blood and lymph fluid from the body is an extremely important, almost miraculous method of improving one's health. "Qi" is the constant and vigorous movement of energy or life force that keeps us healthy and alive.
